WHAT A SUPER FAST SERVICE TO TEXAS, THANK YOU!!!!

This is a paper tape and not the mesh tape. I am very pleased with this at this point haven't used it yet but it is Fibatape brand so I have good faith that it will perform as directed. The value of this is great as Home Depot wants about 2 dollars more after shipping but you are only getting about 50' and this deal is a 500' role witch I think will accommodate the one room that I am looking to rock. Thank you much and if I need any more I know were I am getting it.

I decided to try two boutique drywall joint tapes for fun: the Saint-Gobain FDW6618-U and the Bon "spark perforated" 2" tape. This review summarizes my experience in taping 100' of joints with each tape.

Saint-Gobain is .0075" thick, no edge taper, with more and larger air holes. Price is $5.95@ 500' 1/2 pallet at Clovis tools website. Bon is .007" thick, with edge taper, fewer and smaller holes. Price is $9.43 @ 250' on Amazon. I used Sheetrock all-purpose drying compound for my non-scientific experiment.

The more expensive Bon makes the following claims:
> Reduces drying time, eliminates bubbles and stretching, and dries 4x faster than regular tape,
> Edges are well ground and tapered for easier finishing
I wanted to know if the additional price was justified. Here's what I found:

DRYING TIME: as near as I could tell it was the same. That said, I was testing the dryness on a jobsite with a wristwatch by taking a look whenever I was passing by - hardly scientific, however nothing I witnessed confirmed a 4x difference in drying time.

EDGE TAPERING: only advantage to be found would be on butt seams - but we're talking a few thousandths of an inch. I use 12" knives and 14" concave trowels for butt seams so a few thousandths less height 5" from the edge isn't going to help much. Tapered edges are a good idea in principle, but I'm not sure that I can justify the 50% price premium. I'd be interested in other opinions on this- maybe I'm missing something.

BUBBLE REDUCTION: I didn't notice any difference. Bon's holes are smaller and less numerous, so this claim of theirs is counterintuitive to me. Maybe the paper is more porous.

Both embedded well in the mud with no bubbles if carefully applied. Both performed well. If there's a difference, I couldn't discern it
